Keepin’ It Real - Mentorship and Breaking Barriers To Success
Episode #200
Welcome to this special edition of Keepin’ It Real, panel discussions with entrepreneurs who have shared their stories in our guest blog and join us to discuss topics trending in business… Our guests are innovators, collaborators and small business owners who have successfully made the transition from corporate leader to business owner.
They contribute through mentee/mentor relationships as part of their commitment to giving back to their communities.
Today, we’re going to discuss the importance of mentorship for business innovation as incubators for success.
To help us explore the topic, I’d like to introduce you to our expert panel:
Tricia Ryan, Food Biz Mentoring,
Emily Wilcox, Emily June Wilcox Coaching
Shelley Goldstein, Remarkable Speaking
Rad Lakhani, Consciousness with Rad,
Tara McEwen, McEwen Media,
Laurel Crossley, Little Wellness Company
Mia Jerritt, Mia Jerritt Consulting
What we discussed:
1) What is your definition of mentorship?
2) Describe the difference between a role model and mentor?
3) What leadership skills to you think are important as a mentor?
4) What expectations would you have for mentees?
5) Share one experience where you were a mentee and what did you learn from the experience?
6) If there was someone in our viewing and listening audience who may be looking for a mentor? What advice would you have for finding a connection
7) How important do you feel mentorship is for the future of our communities?
I’d like to thank Tricia, Emily, Tara, Rad, Shelley, Laurel and Mia for sharing their stories and point of view with our viewing and listening audience. I'd like to acknowledge the other formal mentors in the SYS Marketing Grant who were unable to join us: Anthea Mumby - Dream Team Consulting, Angela Santi - Angela Santi Consulting, Dr Birgitte Tan - Author of Seeking Peace
We appreciate your contributions as business owners and wish you continued success as you lead by example as both role models and mentors in our communities.
